Pre & Post-Surgery
Pre-Surgery
We help you to understand and be informed about the procedure and precautions leading up to the surgery but also, about the therapy routine after the operation. This period helps you to be as well-conditioned as possible to optimise your recovery.
Prior to undergoing a joint surgery, our team can ensure you have the optimal functional ability to make the best of your rehabilitation process.
Research suggests that patients have better outcomes after surgery if they were informed, prepared with exercises and advice before their surgery.
Post-Surgery
Once you have had surgery you should leave the hospital with specific instructions and exercises. When the surgeon suggests the time is right we can then start the rehabilitation journey. This may be straight away or after your first post-operative appointment.
Most surgeons have similar protocols but it is best to check with them before we start.
Procedures such as joint replacements require physio to start immediately while some reconstructive surgery will require sometime before we start.
Rehabilitation
Our goal is for you to return to the activities you love and improve your quality of life through a carefully implemented rehabilitation program. The initial stage of recovery will be focussed on assisting your body to heal. The next step is your recovery will be the restoration of full motion, strength and function.
